DoD News Article Update - 23 April 2013
April 23rd 2013 Updates
23 April 2013
To summarize DOD's status and progress over the previous 10 days DOD has been increasing in population and active members. We have seen a significant amount of recruitment (Enough to cancel out the loss of members over the past month). In addition to population growth DOD is currently working to make members who were active before DOD switched to Halo: Reach than back to Halo 4 active again. This process is currently being taken into affect and has shown some results. Due to the DOD roster currently being inactive (But will be activated up ASAP) I cannot give an exact DOD member count. I will not estimate at the moment however I expect to have the roster fully up by Sunday and likewise I will be able to provide the public with an approximate of DOD's population.

War Update23 April 2013
DOD continues to wage war with the United Union Federation and it's allies. Recently a video has been made giving thorough explanations to the current situation and I advise all of you to watch it Video credits go to 2LT FORERUNNER, DOD. Over the past week engagements between UUF and DOD have been miniscule, excluding a UUF spawn kill of a DOD member (Featured in the video). However the current allies against UUF (Or as Sentry Director calls us the "Axis of Evil") has expanded and now stand with the following clans: DOD, UHR, UNR, USOH and more clans that will not be listed at the time for OPSEC's sake. |

Some Changes to Expect
23 April 2013
DOD has been undergoing recent changes regarding our structure to compensate for "flaws" in DOD's system. Recently in the Cabinet and throughout DOD debates have arose regarding how DOD's branches are run. A variety of good ideas have been tossed around and today I am going to describe a few of the top ideas.
-Bringing back a Navy
So many people (Including myself) have been against the ideas of Navies in clans. Arguments have been that since the boats can't move a Navy would serve no good role other than flying banshees. In Halo: Reach Navies were more abundant since it seemed appropriate to have people from ships use the falcons to transport people. But Halo 4 lacked falcons and any good map for Navies, that is of course until Forge Island came out which is easily 3/4 or more water. While the role of Navies may not allow members to drive ships around it certainly is an interesting thing. Because sure a Navy may not be able to drive boats but wouldn't it be good to have designated people to fly banshees. Of course an Air Force could do this too but using "navy" as the terminology you open up a whole new group of opportunities of using naval vessels to launch assaults (Or for defense). So the idea of having a navy certainly can't hurt. In fact a Navy is more likely to help the clan because it will attract people who would be interested in joining a clan with a Navy. So it can't hurt to try really? We are currently organizing a proposal regarding a Navy for DOD and if passed a Navy can be expected, fully active by mid May or earlier.
-Adding a Marine Corps
A Marine Corps branch has been something many clans have had. Usually a branch so popular that the Marines many times overpower all other branches combined (In numbers). In the past DOD has had Marine Corps based branches but had a tendency to die after a month or two. The last time DOD had a Marine Corps was around February 2012 or so. But if the idea of a Marine Corps was approved we would exactly be adding a branch. Here is how it will work: Due to assassinations lacking tactical proficiency in the modern community a branch dedicated to solely guarding DOD officials is irrelevant in many people's eyes. The plan would be that National Guard switch to Marine Corps and edit it's roles. Marine Corps would still guard DOD officials and serve as a personal Army to the Cabinet and the DOD leader but be expanded. Some of the expanded roles would include things like: Serving as a reserve Army, launch assaults on clans under Cabinet approval or under the DOD leader's granted 72 hours of military action, provide security on DOD facilities and many more roles to be discussed among DOD members and in Cabinet.
I would like to ask all to please over your opinions and constructive criticism in the comments section of the DOD website. I have tried to offer both sides of the argument for the Marines and Navy as well.

Staff for New Branches23 April 2013
Whether these branches are opened or not we are in need of some good staff. But to talk specifically about the branches a selection day will be held for ALL interested in staff positions in the new branches. During this day members will be evaluated according to leadership ability as opposed to rank. However that doesn't mean that if you are a Private and you are a good leader you will become Fleet Admiral and second highest ranking in DOD. Those appointed would require a good amount of experience in DOD and demonstrate a knowledge of DOD. However I encourage all to try out if you are interested whether you think you'll make it or not it can't hurt to try. The positions aren't concrete yet but it will probably look something like what is on the right. No staff selection day has been determined yet. All interested please fill out the form below (Like I said no branch has been opened yet however if it opens we will need a staff crew to take over immediately). |
